What are BCAAs?

Branched-Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) are a group of three amino acids: leucine, isoleucine, and valine. These three amino acids are considered “essential,” meaning that our bodies do not possess the necessary enzymes to synthesize them, and they must therefore be obtained through diet.

BCAAs make up about a third of muscle protein . In the context of protein synthesis and especially protein breakdown, leucine plays an important role in muscle anabolism and the reduction of catabolism; however, it needs isoleucine and valine to produce this effect sustainably.

Leucine is also oxidized in muscles and can serve as fuel during exercise, unlike most other amino acids.

BCAAs, essential amino acids

Leucine: It is essential for protein synthesis and muscle recovery.

Isoleucine: It plays a role in muscle metabolism, as well as in immune function and energy regulation.

Valine: It helps stimulate muscle growth and promotes recovery while also participating in energy production.

The 2.1.1 ratio, the ideal dosage?

Our BCAA has an optimal ratio of 2:1:1 of leucine, isoleucine, and valine, meaning two parts leucine to one part valine and isoleucine. From a physiological standpoint, this ratio is the one found in our muscle tissue.

Since leucine is the main branched-chain amino acid involved in stimulating the mTOR protein responsible for protein synthesis, we find it in the majority of quantities in muscle.

The benefits of BCAAs and training

A lack of amino acids could negatively impact your workout; taking BCAAs around your training session would help to::

Limit muscle catabolism

Stimulate protein synthesis

Reduce fatigue

Promote recovery

The quality of our BCAAs

At MATROD®, we have chosen to use plant-based BCAAs derived from the bio-fermentation of corn. They are therefore guaranteed to be 100% vegan and GMO-free.

We use the raw material instAA™ which allows excellent “instant” and rapid solubility in cold water, without residue and allowing maximum absorption (+98%).

Why choose MATROD®?

Ingredients: BCAA instAA™ (L-leucine, L-isoleucine, L-valine, emulsifier: sunflower lecithin), acidifier: citric acid, natural flavor, sweetener: steviol glycosides from stevia.
