What is a native whey isolate?
Native whey isolate is a very pure whey protein extracted directly from fresh milk and not from a cheese by-product like most conventional whey.
The word “native” means that the proteins have not been altered by a thermal or enzymatic process, which guarantees better biological quality and therefore better assimilation by the body.

Native whey isolate manufacturing process
- Extracted directly from fresh milk
- Cold microfiltration combined with ultrafiltration without excessive heating
- Undenatured: the proteins retain their natural structure
Why choose a whey protein with cold microfiltration and ultrafiltration?
The two membrane filtration processes allow milk to be filtered to separate proteins from other components such as fats, lactoses, minerals… without excessive heat or chemicals.
Membrane microfiltration: retains bioactive proteins (β-lactoglobulin, α-lactalbumin, lactoferrin, etc.) while removing fats and casein. Gentle filtration at low temperature (5-15°C).
Ultrafiltration membrane: complements microfiltration and reduces lactose and remaining minerals to obtain whey with approximately 90% protein.

The advantages compared to a classic whey isolate
Undenatured proteins: better bioavailability
Purer product: no fermentation residues, coagulants or processing agents
Better essential amino acid (EAA) profile: richer in leucine
Low lactose content: ideal for those with lactose intolerance
Improved digestibility: less digestive upset
The quality of our native whey isolate
At MATROD®, we have chosen to use a native, undenatured whey isolate, extracted directly from milk through a cold microfiltration and ultrafiltration membrane process.
Our native whey isolate raw material is produced by the German company Milei, from cows raised on pasture in France and Germany, guaranteeing traceable and GMO-free milk subject to very strict European standards.
